The 2018 theme of JXTA’s annual Move the Crowd fundraiser celebrated the past, present, and futurism of Juxtaposition Arts. As the Creative Director, my role was to set the tone, aesthetic, and branding for the celebration.I spent months scanning in 35mm photos from JXTA’s archive to design printed keepsakes dating all the way back to their original in 1995. Our staff and youth apprentices contributed to a photobooth backdrop that still lives as a mural in the West Broadway building. The wish wall created by the youth was a way for donors to fund specific items each lab wanted to elevate their work and the different activations quite literally moved the crowd throughout JXTA’s campus all night. The total amount raised from artwork and textile sales, donations, sponsorships, and tickets was enough to fund five and a half months of apprentice wages for all JXTA Labs. #JXTAmove is a chance for folks to come together to raise money for a creative staple in North Minneapolis.
