After twenty years of working in the cosmetics industry, Chris Leivian started Gunpowder ‘n Gloss, her own makeup line inspired by her country roots. Over the course of two years, I designed her brand identity, website, product photography, tradeshow booth, social media content, and packaging. Her signature Lip Gloss comes in letterpress printed by Studio on Fire and folded into a triangle shape, both designed to save on glue and fit more in one shipping box. I’m the most proud of her dedication to representation, compare Chris to other country-themed brands and you’ll notice she features more people of color than all of them combined. Her tagline “Cosmetics for the Tuff and Pretty” was intentionally worded to resonate with different types of people and she’s intentional about featuring models of different shapes and sizes.
